KEY POINTS

Building a Healthy Relationship With Food

In this segment of Lifequakes, hosts Patricia Wu and Jessica Reyes discuss addressing an eating disorder. With the help of dietitian, Ellen Coghlan, they explore methods to adopting a healthier diet and eating habits.

Recognizing The Problem

Coghlan says that this behavior is all too common and that realizing your relationship with food isn’t healthy is an admirable first step. Coghlan recommends anyone worried about their eating habits to consult a dietitian, therapist, or a combination of the two for the quickest results.

Remember Not To Strain Yourself

Any behavior change is a difficult process, so it’s important to remember that change doesn’t happen overnight. Coghlan says to take it slow at first, don’t strain yourself adapting to new habits all of a sudden. Keep in mind what your goals are as recovering from an eating disorder is a marathon, not a sprint, it’s going to take time and you can only get to the finish line if you do what’s best for you.
