KEY POINTS

In this segment of Lifequakes, host Jessica Reyes explores tough relationships with the in-laws. Jojo Venant joins us to help us explore these tense dynamics.

Cultural differences aren’t excuses

There are cultural differences between all families, some households might like to poke more fun than others, or in a different way. While every family has different dynamics, that doesn’t make them always ok. Marrying into a family doesn’t mean you have to put up with behavior that makes you uncomfortable.

Expressing your concerns

Venant recommends that any feelings someone might have with their in-laws should be expressed to their partner. Making any behavioral change is a difficult and long process, but that can only happen if those feelings are clearly and calmly explained.
