Setback for Timberlake
Singer Justin Timberlake was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York, on the morning of June 18. Patricia Wu and Jessica Reyes break down the story with Jojo Venant.
Only “one martini”
Police reportedly stopped the 43-year-old after he ran a stop sign and failed to stay in his lane. Officers noted Timberlake’s bloodshot eyes, the smell of alcohol, and his poor performance on sobriety tests. He refused a breathalyzer test but reportedly admitted to having “one martini.” Timberlake’s lawyer stated he would “vigorously defend” his client.
Court date set during Timberlake’s tour
The singer is due to appear virtually in court on July 26th. This incident comes amidst Timberlake’s ongoing tour to promote his latest album. He has previously spoken openly about seeking help for excessive drinking. In New York, penalties for drunk driving can include jail time, fines, and license suspension.
