KEY POINTS

If you’re one of the many who rely on ADHD meds to stay focused and on track, you know the struggle is real when there is a medication shortage.

Why does this happen?

It is a perfect storm: more people getting diagnosed (thanks, telehealth!), supply chain disruptions, and even a shortage of the main ingredient. Some folks are resorting to risky moves like buying meds from sketchy sources.

Good news, the medications are coming back onto shelves, and many are breathing a sigh of relief.

Patricia Wu, Jessica Reyes, and Ryan Heapy discuss that about a third are still searching for the prescriptions due to distribution problems and insurance headaches.

This whole mess raises some big questions: Are ADHD meds too easy to get these days? Are doctors prescribing them too much?

Even though meds are making a comeback, it’s clear that this isn’t over yet. So, if you’re still hunting for your medication, hang in there! Talk to your doctor, try different pharmacies, and don’t be afraid to reach out to patient advocacy groups.
