Finding The Right Modality
Have you ever thought that maybe therapy isn’t for you? Or felt dissatisfied with your treatment? It’s not you, it’s just the wrong style. Patricia Wu is joined by Dr. Gwilym Roddick, the founder of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy of Central & South Florida, discussing when therapy might require a specialist and evidence-based therapy. While therapy aims to be a good fit the first time around; differences in age, culture, and general understanding can cause a gap between therapist and patient that doesn’t support effective treatment.
When Do You Need a Specialist?
Sometimes treatments don’t work out because a therapist lacks the right knowledge for their patient. Dr. Roddick says therapists and psychologists should be transparent if they’re an appropriate fit for each patient. However, it’s not always so flexible, as some people are assigned therapists or are limited by what their insurance covers. Before you start, determine what you want out of your treatment, or any key focus you need to address.
Evidence-Based Practices
EBPs are transforming healthcare by prioritizing treatments and interventions backed by thorough research. EBPs enhance patient outcomes by ensuring decisions are grounded in the most current and reliable scientific evidence. This approach minimizes risks and maximizes benefits, leading to more effective and efficient care.
