This might be surprising, especially with marijuana still being illegal in some states. But with legalization on the rise, it’s getting easier to access.

Is this a good thing? Well, it’s complicated. Patricia Wu and Ryan Heapy discuss daily use of any substance can be a sign of bigger issues.

Both marijuana and alcohol can be used to cope with stress, anxiety, or other problems, but they’re not the best solutions.

Here’s the good news: marijuana is probably less harmful than alcohol. It’s less toxic to our bodies and usually doesn’t cause the same level of problems. However, using any substance to numb our feelings isn’t the healthiest way to cope.

It’s like borrowing happiness from tomorrow to feel better today. What we really need is to figure out the root of our problems and find healthier ways to deal with them.
